In the nineteenth century, in the heart of Paris, there was a model train shop at 81 rue de Réaumor. Among the same red brick walls, which had once hosted the old shop, the restaurant Les Amis de Messina was born, designed by the mf2arch.it architecture firm, founded by the architect Mariano Farinella.
The rooms of the restaurant are dressed in new light thanks to Karman’s designer lamps that blend harmoniously with its industrial style furnishings, illuminating each area with class and creativity.
The Les Amis de Messina Restaurant is illuminated by Karman
Brick-coloured walls, iron and glass skylights, walls with peeling plaster and other areas covered with wooden panels and dark resin floors are the design features that form the background of this restaurant’s interior with a refined and captivating concept and a great visual impact.
Les Amis de Messina is divided into three areas, communicated through ramps of gently inclined stairs, designed to accommodate customers at all times of the day: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Specifically, we can find the patisserie, cafeteria and delicatessen, where there is a central "island" counter, where freshly prepared food and products from the Atelier de Cuisine Gastronomique, also specialised in cooking and pastry courses, are served.
The first area has a large window that completely covers the structure reaching over to the second area, located in the centre of the room, whose windows overlook the inner courtyard of the building, ensuring fresh and soft natural light.
From this point, there is a third area characterised by red brick walls, partly in wood and metal, with a four-pitched wooden and glass cover. Here, we can find a secluded and romantic winter garden.
Karman lamps illuminate each area of Les Amis de Messina, and each solution has been explicitly designed to illuminate the rooms, creating unique and unrepeatable atmospheres. Therefore, customers have the opportunity to experience a special path of light within the restaurant, since they are so diversified and stimulating.
Here are Les Amis de Messina’s Karman lamps:
- Dharma
- Gangster
- Lucilla
- Biancaluce
Dharma
Four suspension lamps, in rough concrete and with a reflecting inner plate, illuminate the kitchen countertops in a clear and homogeneous way. This is Dharma, a lamp created by Edmondo Testaguzza, designed as a "task light" for this restaurant.
Dharma
Its shape, with vintage charm and the strength of the cement that constitutes its structure, represents a genuine reference to the industrial concept that permeates the interiors of the room.
Dharma
These are the distinctive features that make Dharma perfect for illuminating this area of the restaurant, and at the same time, making the first style statement.
Gangster
To illuminate the cellar, we can find a creation by Matteo Ugolini: Gangster, a suspension lamp with rounded lines, chosen, in this case, with a wide radius and a thinner body (this lamp is available in 4 different sizes).
Gangster
Total white ceramic on the outside and bronze on the inside. Gangster's bronze reflections evoke nostalgic memories, not coincidentally linked to viticulture, suggesting the traditional copper tubs used for the production of wine.
Lucilla
The defined lines of Lucilla's rust-coloured wire stand out in the private area, and its light, bright but delicate, illuminates the most reserved corner of the restaurant.
Lucilla
The architect Farinella has specially chosen this suspension lamp by Matteo Ugolini for its minimalist and refined silhouette.
Lucilla
Biancaluce
Biancaluce is the suspension lamp that completes the series of lamps called Settenani Collection, designed by designer Matteo Ugolini. Seven lamps with different shapes and characteristics, united by a structure in opaque rough concrete.
Biancaluce
This lamp fascinates and stands out for its double nature: firm and material in the concrete body, but at the same time, graceful and light thanks to the metal wire skirt that completes the structure.
Biancaluce has been specially selected to illuminate the tables, as it guarantees functional surface lighting and helps to delineate an intimate and welcoming mood in the restaurant.
How Karman’s designer lamps give new light to Les Amis de Messina
A look at the past, with one foot in the present. Here is the stylistic metaphor expressed by the characteristics of interior lighting design that constitute the aesthetic character of Les Amis de Messina.
The retro taste of Karman lamps, chosen to illuminate the restaurant, goes perfectly with the elegance of modern style, designed to characterise its interior.
Karman communicates in an extremely personal way, using a creative language that expresses itself through magical games of light and inimitable forms of materials.
The unique design of the solutions are used to give new charm and personality to the restaurant, without distorting the primordial aspect, which is the essence of the restaurant and makes it unique.
A well-designed decorative lighting project for restaurants
The decorative lighting project created for Les Amis de Messina is a successful proposal, as each solution combines style and functionality.
But not only.
Each lamp used in the restaurant meets the requirements required to illuminate each location with adequate lighting levels.
In fact, the success of a lighting design project for restaurants depends, to a large extent, on the effectiveness of lighting both for individual environments and activities.
The functional and welcoming atmosphere of a restaurant is determined by the type of decorative lighting chosen to give brightness to each room.
According to recent studies, poorly lit rooms do not enjoy frequent attendance by customers who, dissatisfied by the lacklustre environment, leave the restaurant even before eating a meal.
On the contrary, bright restaurants are more welcoming and hospitable and, as a result, attract a greater number of visitors and potential customers.
