This traditional "Spring Festival" celebrating colours and love originates from India. The Holi Festival is an event of ancient origins celebrating the arrival of summer and involving music, dance and coloured powder thrown over bodies and faces.
It is due to arrive in Italy with dates scheduled in various cities between June and September. The multi-coloured “bombs” will be accompanied by concerts and DJ sets. The Holi Fest takes place mainly during the daytime and continues through to the first lights of dawn, bearing in mind that colours stand out more on skin and clothes in daylight.
In India and Nepal, where Holi is an ancient tradition, the festival kicks off with a bonfire and then explodes into dance and music to celebrate the victory of good over bad, bid farewell to the cold winter and embrace the desire to laugh, play, forgive and forget the pain. It originates from Hindu mythology: the god Krishna, jealous of the beauty of his beloved Radha, painted her face with colours. That is why Holi is now also considered a festival of love. Everyone can join in, all you need to do is bring a white T-shirt and buy the coloured powder on site. It is called Gulal, is sold in packs, is strictly non-toxic, allergy free, eco-friendly, and washes out in a single wash.
