Capsule Collection by Karman: surreal perspectives between light and man

Posted On 30 November 2020

Capsule Collection is in effect Karman's style statement, a creative language made into material objects: a fusion of light and art. These designer lamps tell new stories that make them perceptible through surprisingly dynamic photographs.

Capsule Collection: synergy between the light and fixture

Each luminous body’s essence is released in every image thanks to the synergistic choreography between the lamp and model.

The grace and elasticity of the human body mix with the materiality of ceramic, glass, and metal and blend perfectly with the fabric’s elegance and other materials.

Here are some of the lamps used for the photo shoot:

Let's take a closer look at them.

Amsterdam

A symbol that refers to one of the icons of the Dutch capital, Amsterdam, is one of the appliques from "Karman’s Zoo", created by Matteo Ugolini, which incorporates the features of a bulldog. The profile is made even more realistic by the excellent workmanship of the white ceramic fixture.

Braille

Solid but at the same time light and ethereal, Braille, by Matteo Ugolini, is a luminous sphere which—with its satin white glass diffuser and bas-relief motifs— invades the space with soft and vaporous light.

Cell

Firm, solid, and resistant: Cell, by Matteo Ugolini, is an oval-shaped white wire cage that encloses a linen diffuser, ideal for a softer diffusion of light.

Déjà-Vu

Déjà-Vu is a ceramic collection with a total white look. Also, this time, Matteo Ugolini was able to design an impactful lighting source with an evocative image.

The white linen lampshade offers a diffused, soft light. The smooth and sinuous profile with floral bas-reliefs offers a touch of grace and elegance that does not go unnoticed.

Eden Collection

The warm autumn breeze picks up, and the leaves begin to dance. Does simpler and more surprising magic exist?! Eden Collection by Matteo Ugolini tells the poetry of this unique moment, tracing the characteristic veins of the leaves in a stylized design.

Notredame

Notredame's detailed drawing evokes the image of ancient Gothic rose windows—ancient grandeur made modern and versatile by the designers Luca De Bona and Dario De Meo in a suspension model in white technopolymer with a luminous heart in the center.

Nilo

When nature stimulates one of the creative minds of the Karman team, unique design elements are born. Nilo is more than a lamp; it is the metaphor of a distant memory.

Country life—rich in sounds, smells, and shapes—inspired Matteo Ugolini to create this original floor lamp whose structure recalls the tall and slender silhouette of rushes.

Ugo Rilla

As well as Amsterdam, Ugo Rilla is also part of the “Karman’s Zoo” family and was designed by Matteo Ugolini. In this applique, we have sculpted the features of the king of the jungle who is gripping three LED bulbs.

Capsule Collection: a new way of telling stories through light

Capsule Collection is a project that demonstrates how light can inspire man in ever new and fascinating ways.

It is impossible not to be enchanted by the light and its kaleidoscopic fantasies. Karman lamps are the fruit of this inspiration: light and man merge, giving life to a new perspective.
