How to choose lamps for hotel lighting

Before going into the merits of Karman's hotel lighting projects, we believe it is useful to remember some general guidelines for choosing the right lamps for a hotel.

The choice of lamps for contract lighting for hotels is a crucial phase in the design, as it directly affects the atmosphere and guest experience.

As we have already said, designers must pay extreme attention to several aspects to ensure that the lighting is functional, aesthetically pleasing, and in line with the total concept.

So here are some best practices to consider when selecting lamps for a hotel lighting project:

  1. Define the goal, i.e. establish what the specific role of lighting is in each environment;
  2. Guarantee stylistic coherence. The lamps should reflect and enhance the overall style of the hotel, to give the location a defined personality and guarantee guests a coherent experience;
  3. Take care of the lighting’s technical-functional and aesthetic aspect for each environment: bedrooms, hall, reception, passage areas, corridors, bar, and restaurant areas;
  4. Foresee multiple lighting sources, that is, use a combination of lights and decorative lamps to give depth and character to spaces, while ensuring the right visual comfort.

In conclusion, hotel lighting requires a mix of creativity and in-depth knowledge of lighting engineering to find the perfect balance between decorative and technical lighting. And Karman lamps respond precisely to this need.

Inspirations: contract lighting projects for hotels with Karman

Architects and interior designers are increasingly aware of the role of lighting in the design of an environment.

However, being able to design the lighting for hotels capable of providing functionality and magic to every context, including surprise and excitement and unique environments, can be more difficult than expected.

Our designer suspension, wall, ceiling, and table lamps for hotels stand out for their innovative spirit, in shapes and materials, without neglecting functionality and high technical performance.

What we are about to see are just some of the exclusive lighting projects for hotels which have Karman decorative lamps as the protagonists. They are not just simple light sources but real furnishing elements.

Let's check them out in detail.

How to illuminate a hotel restaurant

The restaurant is an environment where correct lighting is more essential than ever.

The choice of lamps, as well as color temperature and light intensity, will depend decisively on the type of location, the atmosphere you want to set, and the type of clientele it intends to host.

In the Chalet Stella Adriatica project, we see a restaurant with an extremely rigorous and formal style.

The designer used lighting to create two visually separate environments, on the one hand, by inserting a series of Moby Dick suspensions in white fiberglass with a delicate sculptural shape and, on the other, with some Notredame wall lamps, to the refined rosette structure in extremely decorative white technopolymer.

The mood of this restaurant project in Bratislava is completely different, with strong industrial style features.

In this case, the architect chose an unconventional contract lighting solution for hotels with a strong visual impact – Stant, a suspension system in matte black aluminum and white satin glass spheres.

Now let’s take a look at the same lamp in a completely different setting and mood. In the Masia Cabellut project in Barcelona, Stant was used to illuminate the yoga area, showing all its great versatility and ability to match contexts with a decidedly different style.

However, in the Hotel Miramare project in Sorrento, we see two ideas used to illuminate the reception and the bar counter. For the reception, the designer chose Snoob, an elegant and modern sixteen-armed chandelier in lacquered aluminum. For the bar counter, however, he chose a series of Alì e Babà suspension lamps, which evoke the atmosphere of oriental fairy tales.

Here you find a light, elegant, and evocative atmosphere recreated by the designer in this project by Catarina - Restaurant & Drink House in Favignana. Delicate Cell suspensions, which recall ancient Chinese lanterns with thin white metal wire, were used.

6 perfect lamps for hotel lighting

We have seen some projects where architects and interior designers have chosen Karman lamps for the contract lighting for hotels.

These are just a few examples to show how the choice of decorative lamps clearly influences the final result of the entire project, always enhancing and emphasizing the overall mood that the designer intends to communicate.

As we have seen, whatever the style of the location, Karman is able to offer hotel lamps that will satisfy it.

Let's now go into detail about the perfect lamps for hotel lighting that we have just seen in the projects.

  1. Moby Dick: a suspension lamp in white fiberglass whose lines recall the profile of the whale of the same name. It adapts to both minimal environments and more decorative contexts;
  2. Notredame: a ceiling, suspension, or wall lamp for hotels. The luminous effect it evokes is that of the suggestive rose windows of Gothic cathedrals;
  3. Stant: a series of suspensions and ceiling lights that offer extreme design versatility. In fact, they can be built as desired with straight lines and curved lines in white or black painted aluminum;
  4. Cell: romantic chandeliers for hotels and private environments, made up of a light cage in white or bronze metal wire, a linen lampshade, and a white or black silk tassel, perfect for illuminating hotels that aim to amaze with elegance;
  5. Snoob: the classic design of antique chandeliers takes on a decidedly minimal and contemporary look. This chandelier, with eight or sixteen arms, in white or black lacquered aluminum, provides timeless elegance;
  6. Alì e Babà: a collection of suspensions, wall lamps, and table lamps, which recalls, in design and spirit, one of the most beloved stories of “One thousand and one nights." In glossy glazed white ceramic, or with a white linen lampshade for more diffused light, they are capable of changing character depending on the style with which they are combined, from the most classic to the most contemporary.

Finally, in this overview of hotel lamps we cannot fail to mention the collection Karman Zoo, made of iconic lamps with animals for emotional designer lighting.
