36 DAYS OF TYPE

Written by Ilaria Traditi | Apr 18, 2016 9:58:12 AM

The timeless charm evoked by the shape of letters and numbers, the vehicles of communication of our times, lies at the heart of this brilliant initiative. 36 Days of Type is a veritable marathon of the printing world, binging designers, illustrators, graphic designers and artists of all kinds together to graphically reinterpret letters and numbers.

Every day a letter is chosen and participants are then given free reign to reinterpret it. It is no coincidence that there are 36 letters, including the numbers from 1 to 36. It may seem like an easy thing to do, but it is not; asking someone to create their own personal version of an A is like asking someone to reinvent the wheel every day.

After the enormous success of the previous two editions, the creators of this brilliant initiative, Nina Sans and Rafa Goicoechea, have given the challenge a new twist as this time round it is being held entirely on Instagram. Nina and Rafa believe in this project as it aims to provide a single space for creativity in the printing world, giving everyone the chance to add their contribution.

"It is wonderful to observe how letters and numbers are formed through a visual language that leaves room for different disciplines, giving them a voice."
